This is what Debra said about shedweek and the opportunities

As an outdoor living expert, I am drawn to the intersection of architecture and horticulture; as an observer and a design writer, I watch and interpret how human beings interact with their built environment, and in the larger context, with nature. So it’s no surprise that to me, a “shed” is a tiny building with a big impact on our lives.

These diminutive structures satisfy all our longings for place, sanctuary, creativity and shelter. I’m honored for the chance to participate in SHED WEEK as an international judge and hope that my involvement will help expand and promote shed-ownership and this event in North America.

Debra is a Los Angeles-based outdoor living expert who writes and lectures on gardens and home design. She has a background in textiles, journalism, landscape design and horticulture.

A frequent speaker for botanical garden, horticultural society and flower show audiences, Debra is also a regular radio and television guest.

She is the creator of www.shedstyle.com, a design blog.

Her five books include award-winning Stylish Sheds and Elegant Hideaways (Clarkson-Potter/Random House, 2008), The Abundant Garden (2005), and Pacific Northwest Garden Survival Guide (2004).

Debra’s feature stories appear in the Los Angeles Times’ Home section and top shelter and consumer publications, including Garden Design, Fine Gardening, Cottages & Bungalows, Metropolitan Home, Landscape Architecture, among others.

She is also an associate with Lifestyle Insights, a group of savvy professionals who develop new-media content to help corporations communicate with women consumers.

I hope you will welcome be Debra to the Shed Week fold and her stylish views on sheds will prove a great asset to our shed judges arsenal.

Of course if you are an Stylish Sheddie with an even posher shed then Share yours for Shed of the year 2010.
