The eighth annual Blokes ‘n Sheds tour was blessed with a beaut of a day yesterday and attracted another strong turnout.

Organiser Ken Bowie said about 160 blokes of all ages took part in the Southland Boys’ High School fundraising event, which took the blokes to a mystery selection of five sheds including Southland Wool Brokers and Stabicraft.

The event was expected to raise more than $2000, which will be spent on landscaping around the school’s music drama suite.

Although “female blokes” were also welcome and have come in the past, none turned up this year.

The bloke tour attracted a large number of new participants and a large handful put their hands up to say they were on their seventh tour.

Mr Brownie said a lot of the tickets had been bought as father’s day presents.

Because of this, next year’s event is also planned to take place on the weekend after father’s day, he said.
