Punks not Dad have left the shed and are now in bed with Lisa Rogers & can’t get it up

My middle aged punk friends and former Shed of the year song mongers PUNKS NOT DAD are proud to offer for your viewing pleasure the long awaited follow up to IN ME SHED

CAN’T GET IT UP! From our forthcoming ‘Retail Therapy’ EP

Welcome to CAN’T GET IT UP – the latest cut price video from PUNKS NOT DAD, carefully constructed according to the flat pack instruction manual and starring LISA ROGERS and everyone’s favourite mid life musical miseries PUNKS NOT DAD. From the same team who knocked up IN ME SHED one Saturday afternoon this latest classic took almost twice as long to film, with a 15% budget increase that is clearly visible on the screen (we had to buy a bedside table). (Does anyone want to buy a bedside table, slightly used?)

I think they got the better deal out of it, and thanks to Johnny Cardigan for wearing a I love sheds Tshirt in the great video

I hope this storms the charts!

Punks not dad want you to buy their Dadvent calendar

With the excellent Shed Calendar 2011 featuring shed week dates (more on chance to win a copy soon) this fell into my shed inbox.

Friends of readersheds and former “Shed of the year hit punk single for shed week mungers” Punks Not Dad are trying to flog a Dadvent to fund their next single and have made a video, I bite the PR hype as there was a shed at the start.

Ageing Punks Spread ‘Dadvent’ joy

Welsh Legends PUNKS NOT DAD have taken the unusual step of making and selling advent calendars to fund their latest CD Release.

“We made a few last year as a joke and we were overwhelmed by people asking for one,”’ explains lead singer Sid Life Crisis “So this year we’ve made a load more. We called them Dadvent Calendars, because it’s about time Dads had something to look forward to in the run up to Christmas to take their minds off shopping, Man Flu, the in-laws and carol singers. Behind every window is a picture of something that appeals to Dads. Obviously we can’t tell you what, cos that would spoil the surprise. All the money will help to get our next CD out as we are completely skint. “

The front features pictures of the band, along with stills from the bands recent video shoot, starring BBC Wales presenter Lisa Rogers. The video will be released in January along with the new ‘Retail Therapy’ EP- if we sell enough calendars.

The calendars are available from the bands website at www.punksnotdad.com and in local shops such as Spillers or Roaths Milkwood gallery and Halcyon Days for the derisory price of just £3.99

Shed fanciers/botherers Punks not Dad in the Times

Our old mates Punks not dad are in the Times in the run up to shedweek but you can’t read it online if you don’t pay as it’s behind the Mr Murdochs new ShedWall :(

They’ve got proper jobs and kids, and sing about sheds rather than smashing the system. Mary Bowers meets the forty and fiftysomething dads who are keeping the spirit of punk alive

In the dressing room before the big gig, Dan Nichols asks for a piece of paper to write
down his lyrics: his memory is not what it used to be.

“Reading the paper,” Nichols, 46, says slowly, his tongue hanging out of his mouth in
concentration. He runs a leather-clad hand through his gel-spiked hair.

“Sorting out me jam jars,” offers Chris Walker, 42, fixing the badges on his
homemade T-shirt.

“Potting me tomatoes?” asks Mike Mole, 48, fastening the safety pins that hold
together his “iconic” cardigan. That line apparently comes later.

The song, entitled , Nichols explains, is dedicated to the one place that dads go to
find refuge from their children. In walks Steve Jones, 42, clutching his drumsticks in
fingerless leather gloves. He looks over Nichols’s shoulder. “Having a cup of tea,” he
suggests.

Fifteen minutes later they have fixed their outfits and, clad in studded leather and
red slogans, Nichols, Walker, Mole and Jones assume their alter egos: Sid Life Crisis,
Joe Strimmer, Johnny Cardigan, and Adrian Viles. Together they are Punks Not Dad.
Punks Not Dad rarely rehearse. They write their lyrics over e-mail and record demos
at home. After their kids have gone to bed, they vent the things that make them
angry: no one understands their man flu; Tesco has run out of Wagon Wheels;they’re covered in spilt baby food.

anyway here is their anthem to sheds and last years Song for Shed Week like Song for Europe but with more sheds.

Punks not Dad are finally Down with the kids

Lasts years official song for Shed Week is now an official Song for the guardians Down with the kids column, this is what Sid Life Crisis says

“just to let you know that ‘in me shed’ has been made official campaign song for a campaign to give under 18s the vote in the Guardian Family Section today. Chris Cleave’s reasoning appears to be that that way the kids can rule the country whilst we retire to our sheds and remove ourselves from the whole shebang.”

Those Punk’s not Dad have got man-flu
