Outgoing Dr Who David Tennant has Tardis Envy

David Tennant has admitted he was “jealous” of Matt Smith, who will be seen taking over his role as Doctor Who next year.

Tennant was speaking at the launch of the Doctor’s latest adventure, The Waters of Mars, which sets the foundations for the beginning of the end of Tennant’s incarnation as the TV Time Lord.

The episode is the second Doctor Who special to be screened this year, and Tennant will also star in two more shows before bowing out in tear-jerking scenes.

Maybe the best doctor David can get a TARDIS shed to help him with the transistion

Can they save the Newport TARDIS

According to the BBC

A community is trying to save a listed Tardis-style police box which has fallen into disrepair.

The box in Somerton, Newport, is the only one to survive in the city and one of the few remaining in the UK.

But it is now falling apart and will need thousands spent to restore it to its former glory.

During much of the 20th Century, the boxes were used to contact police officers by phone before personal radios made them redundant.

They are now perhaps better known as Doctor Who’s time machine, or Tardis, in the popular television series.

There is also a Facebook group dedicated to it.

Of course on readersheds we have loads of TARDIS but not original ones!

BBC One’s Tonight’s The Night is running a competition that offers the winner the chance to appear as an Alien in a specially-written Doctor Who scene. The scene will be filmed by the Doctor Who production team on the set of the TARDIS and will air in the final episode of Tonight’s The Night in April/May 2009.

Tonight’s The Night aims to help ordinary people live out their performing fantasies for real and become the most unlikely stars that Saturday evenings have ever seen. In this particular case, the wish it aims to fulfill is one that belongs to a Doctor Who fan somewhere out there.

Host of Tonight’s The Night, John Barrowman (West End / Torchwood / Doctor Who), says: “This is a fantastic opportunity and I can’t wait to see the winner experience performing on the set of Doctor Who.”

Allotment TARDIS for sheddies & Dr Who fans

The telegraph reports

Philippa Morgan and Declan McSweeney, from Wiltshire, needed a new shed and decided to do “something different” after seeing a replica of the BBC’s famous time machine up for auction.

Now the blue police box is the envy of other allotment owners in Devizes and the pair can confirm it seems bigger inside than it appears.

Their winning £202 bid was the second highest for the 10ft tall Tardis, which was offered by Wiltshire Fencing and Landscaping to raise money for the county’s Air Ambulance appeal. The highest bidder, who put up £250, pulled out.

The plywood Tardis was made for a Doctor Who-themed float at Devizes and Pewsey carnivals last year.

Well you know what it would be a proud edition to our other TARDIS sheds

The eleventh Dr Who is Matt Smith

I wonder if our TARDIS shed fans will be happy, as we all like David Tennant here. ;)

Smith appeared in Alan Bennett’s play The History Boys at the National Theatre in London, and alongside Christian Slater in Swimming with Sharks in the West End.

His TV appearances have included the BBC’s versions of The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, both of which featured Billie Piper.

He joins a list that now has some great names.

1. William Hartnell
2. Patrick Troughton
3. Jon Pertwee
4. Tom Baker (My childhood Dr)
5. Peter Davison
6. Colin Baker
7. Sylvester McCoy
8. Paul McGann
9. Christopher Eccleston
10. David Tennant
11. Matt Smith

Good luck to the new Dr, but BBC don’t change the TARDIS.
