Dr Who inspired garden shed for lucky girls

Shed of the year has been announced. Welcome Sheddie, this blog is about sheds! You can share your shed, or view other people's sheds. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed.

As you well know we love a TARDIS shed here on shedblog nowthe SouthWales argos, reports

Update the sheddie has shared their shed.

TWO Newport girls can travel in time and space any time they like - thanks to a Tardis in their back garden.

Bassaleg man Paul Williams, 35, who works for a Cardiff estate agents, constructed a life-size replica Tardis for Doctor Who fanatic daughters Charlotte, 7, and Olivia, 3, in time for the summer holidays.

It was Mr Williams’ first attempt at any sort of carpentry, and took him three months to construct and paint.

The materials and signs cost £600, and he had the signs made professionally to look as close to David Tennant’s time-machine as possible. It took two men to lift it onto the base and put the roof in place.

Thanks to Rob for the tip.

Great pre Shed week traffic - thanks Dr Who

Last week we had a great week in terms of eyeballs looking at the sheds, and it was all thanks to Dr Who, well really to his time machine the TARDIS and some good traffic to the pubsheds and of course the run up to Shed week got some people voting for their favorites and of course people where looing at many pages instead of just one, which is what every website owner wants.

My logs said this…

945,684 Hits ! 32,888 visitors!

You can see what the online community had been saying about the sheds here.

Hopefully we can get some of that traffic back to see the Shed of the year winner, now all I need to do is get my Shedblog readers up and that would be great.

If you have a TARDIS shed you would like to share for next years competition then pop along here.

Slow sheds - maybe we need to travel in time & space

We have been picked up by Cory Doctorow over at Boingboing.

So you may experience some slowness when voting for your favorite shed, unless you are voting from another time and dimension.

Their readers are fans of sci-fi and other geeky things so I recommended the TARDIS sheds to them, but remember of course you can vote for all sheds, not just the TARDIS, and have until the 4th July 2008, Shed Independence day.

TARDIS and retro gaming

We love a TARDIS here on shedblog but this one would satisfy the Dr Who fan and Retro gamer in one wossname.

This chapshows how to convert a TARDIS into a MAME console, FYI mame is a piece of software that allows you play old games from original arcade machines

Of course if you owned the arcade machines in the first place then you would not need it… That was my dream as a a boy to have my own galaxian machine, so if there are any sheddies out there with “Spaceys” in theirs shed let us know.

Thanks to Alex for the time traveling heads up.

Just Sheds tuesday : Tardis

Not featured a TARDIS shed for these regular looks at potential sheds of the year, yet.

I thought we had the cornered the TARDIS shed market, but there are still some great ones out there, of course you may think the criteria is simple.

1) Is it Box shaped - Check
2) Is it Blue - Check

but the work these Time traveling sheddies do, makes the genre worthy of it’s own shed category and what happy sheddie they are.

This one is a great example and looks just like a realone from the BBC!

I’ve always been a massive fan of sheds and Doctor Who, so when I got a chance to combine my two favorite hobbies I couldn’t resist. I got hold of it via some friends of mine and altough I won’t state the price, it was well over £500. Luckliy enough my wife doesn’t know and presumes I got it from a BBC stock sale.

I do put it to good use though, it acts as a extention to my garage you can see in the background.

Shed here.

Build your own TARDIS like the beeb?

The trumpet of truth, reports that the Popular shed like time machine from Dr Who is not real!

DID Dr Who get his time travelling machine from Ikea?

That is what fans were left wondering when the Time Lord’s secret was revealed – his Tardis does not zip between dimensions in an instant but comes flat-packed on the back of a lorry!
