Interact with the sheds

Welcome Sheddie, this blog is about sheds! You can share your shed, or view other people's sheds. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed.

With all the talk of Social wossname and user interaction and the like, I thought I would find other ways of you sheddies getting involved with readersheds/shedblog and of course Shed week, currently you can just Contact me using the standard form and I will try and answer your email, or post on the Forum or even follow me on twitter, no that’s posh.

But I saw this post on a great blog called makeuseof, It promotes a new tool that allows you to create a suggestion box on your blog, that allows quick feedback from your users.

Skribit

is a user-generated content suggestion application for blogs. Effortlessly assemble what your readers really want to hear.

anyway the widget is in the righthand side of the blog, and below, so give it a go, click on the Question and post a comment..

Skribit: Social Suggestions

so be gentle and tell me what you want! maybe you want to promote your shed or your event during shed week or even just say hi.

I will try and catch up with it every night

Shedblog blog tagged

I have been blogged tagged by Alex over at shedworking, rules at the bottom.

anyway here are my random things about me

  • I trained as a chef many years ago- but still enjoy cooking for fun
  • I drink my coffee black and tea white (2 sugars in both if no-one is watching)
  • I have not been to the hairdressers for over 13 years
  • I only passed my driving test in Dec 2007 - not a fan of driving but had to and it was first attempt.
  • I am really bad at DIY when told what needs to be done, but when left alone I try hard and sometimes don’t fail.
  • My favourite film is the Quiet Man starring John Wayne - thanks to brainwashing from the O’Connor’s while I was a child :)

and here are the blogs that I am tagging, hopefully they will carry on the tag

Shedblog back

Well sort of. Looks like we had a few technical issues while I was away and Alex could not do his guest posts.

not to worry I will try and post the Shed of the Week later, as I have a lot of other things to catch up with.

The shedblog is on holiday

I’m off on holiday from the shed for a week..

Alex from shedworking.co.uk will be posting the odd thing here, if he has time and he thinks it’s related to what you shedblog readers want, so look out for proper use of grammer and spelling…

Also if you have shared your shed then it won’t be live until when I get back… so take more photos and we can look at it then.

also when I get back I hope to get the run up to Shed Week really started!

so will see you soon

thanks wilco

Shed slogans

The world is full of famous slogans.

“Hello Moto” “Just do it” “Hello boys” “Because you’re worth it” “Nowt taken out” “They drink it in the Congo” “A Double Diamond works wonders” “Guinness is good for you” “Reassuringly expensive.” “Smooth Like No Other.” etc etc etc

and of course the now wossname “We/I Love Sheds” as seen on tshirts around the land.

I love sheds tshirt

but talking in the pub the other week with AJ and DR, we got thinking about slogans for possible readersheds and Shed Week merchandise, ie tshirts and the like.

Two that where flung my way were

My Erection Is Perfection

and

Good with wood

of course I will not stand for that sort of smut, but if you sheddies can come up with any smartarse slogans you would be proud to wear on a tshirt that is related to your shed, then please post it in the comments box.

Shed Side Blog of Bits

You may notice there will be little bits of interesting (I think) info/posts in the righthand side of shedblog.co.uk under the title of Bits, in fact this is a wordpress plugin called Sideblog and it’s great for adding quick posts about stuff that may not full posts but just asides to the main nonsense.

basically they will be short posts about shed related (or not) stuff that I find out and about on the interweb.

There will still be a full post for them, but they wont be in the RSS feed..

you will be able to see that from the links or even go to the TAG page.

Are you a sheddie in the Black Country?

Well BBC WM are looking for you, to chat about your personal space, so if you are a sheddie in your early 50s and a women (so 1 out of 3 for me, does not count) then they would love to hear from you..!

Hello, I’m Bernadette Shortt, I work on lifestyle features for a mid morning programme on BBC WM, the local radio station for Birmingham and the Black Country.

In the office we have been discussing where people go if they need personal space? My immediate thought was sheds!

I’m looking for people in their early 50s, ideally women, from the West Midlands who can talk us through why they need this little retreat? I don’t have a particular date in mind but we broadcast Monday to Fridays between 10am and 1pm. If anyone is interested then please call me on 0121 567 6029.

good luck

Lovely shed cards

I had some two great cards with a shed angle, this Christmas.

The first one is humorous card called “The Interesting World of Sheds” by Ian gibson, which was from Mrs Uncle wilco’s friend, I like the shed “with aspirations”.

The other one was from Shed of the Year 2007 winner, Tony. a great Watercolor study by Martin Sexton, called “Grandad’s potting shed”, thanks Tony made my Xmas!.
