Shed of the Year 2009 Announced

Wednesday 8th July 2009

Of course they may be slight changes due to unforeseen shed based circumstances

Shed of the year 2009 judge: Trevor Baylis

It’s my great pleasure again this year that I can announce that top British inventor and renowned sheddie and pipe smoker Trevor Baylis has agreed to be one of the judges again in this years Shed of the year 2009.

trev_workshop2.jpg

As you all know Trevor was the brains behind the clockwork radio and many other life changing inventions.

Trevor has always worked tirelessly to promote the cause of the lone inventor, and has been concerned about the neglect of invention, inventors, and intellectual property in the UK for many years. To help improve this situation, he set up a company called Trevor Baylis Brands plc which helps inventors take their products to market.

Such as the Eco Media Player Revolution, Mini Eco Radio and the handy Eco Lantern and the Eco-Pro Torch and Mobile Phone Charger!

These products are available from the Ethicial Superstore

Trevor Joins the other judges for this years competition, Chris Evans, Sarah Beeny, Lloyd Alter, Alex (from shedworking), Tim (last years shed winner) and my good-self (unclewilco), so I think he is in good company!

Happy new shed year + Eco Judge announcement

Happy new year sheddies, I hope this year brings you more shed related antics than 2008.

I hope Shed Week 2009 will be the best ever (If I get my planning done now)

Anyway talking about Shed Week I would like to report that Lloyd Alter, ‘treehugger’ and eco architect has agreed again to be a judge in this years competition, cheers Lloyd.

lloyd_alter
A bit about Lloyd, who hopefully will be putting his expertise forward for the new Eco-Shed category plus have some good views on the International Shed of the Year.

Lloyd Alter has been an architect, developer, inventor, and builder of prefab housing. He now writes for TreeHugger, is an Associate Professor at Ryerson University teaching sustainable design, and has written for Azure and Ontario Nature magazines. In the course of his previous work developing small residential units and now prefabs, Lloyd became convinced that we just use too much of everything- too much space, too much land, too much food, too much fuel, too much money, and that the key to sustainability is to simply use less. And, the key to happily using less is to design things better.

So if you have an Eco shed, be it made from recycled materials, covered in grass or anything else, then please “Share it” for Shed of the Year 2009.

Shed of the Year 2009 – Judge Announcement – The beeny

Sarah Beeny Laying against a shed, probablyWe are very please to announce that sheddies favourite Sarah Beeny has agreed to be a judge for next summers Shed of the year competition, which of course is held during Shed Week (Starting 6th July 2009 for nearly a whole week)

Sarah is famous here in the UK for her skills as a property developer on shows such as Property Ladder and is the author of many best selling property related books.

But to us Sarah is a shed fan this will be the third year that The Beeny has been a judge and we are very happy to have her back.

In terms of judges, Shed Week 2009 is starting to take speed what with Chris Evans becoming a judge the other week.

Iam in discussion with a couple of international judges and Iam sure Shedworking hero, Alex will gives us his take as a judge as well!

If you are a company or organisation interested in sponsoring Shed Week 2009, get in touch with me and I will send you details once I have finalised this that and the other

Shed of the year 2009 : Judge Announcement – Chris Evans

DJ Chris Evans of BBC Radio 2 (to name one thing) and friend of readersheds (since I have been on his radio show twice in the past promoting shed week and Shed of the year) has agreed to be a judge in next years Shed of the Year competition, of course Chris may hope a Pub Shed will win again next year!

This year will be our third attempt at celebrating all that is good about sheds, from TARDIS, pub sheds and the new Eco shed categories.

Chris wrote about it on his blog today

I arrive in work and suddenly I feel a smile coming on as I receive an invite from Uncle Wilco to judge The Shed of the Year comp 2009. My, Uncle Wilco I would be delighted. Put me down.

Chris is the first judge to sign up and I hope to get him doing a Q&A in the new year.
