It still needs some finishing but I swapped out my old roof with a new one with insulation, felt and a big polycarbonate window.

I'm looking forward to your next post on doing the window. I've thought off and on of setting one into my existing roof, on the back (north) side, but am leery of cutting into the asphalt shingles and plywood. I built the steep, hipped roof myself (that was a hair-raising adventure!), but chickened out when it came to nailing on the shingles. Luckily, my mother (from whom I got my fear of heights) paid for some pros to come and do them in less than half a day. It's beautiful and very water-tight, so I'm nervous about cutting into it and getting the waterproofing right…
