Trench warfare

Shed of the year has been announced. Welcome Sheddie, this blog is about sheds! You can share your shed, or view other people's sheds. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed.

Utility companies dug the equivalent of two million trenches in England and Wales during streetworks last year.

Carrying out streetwork on such services as water, gas and electricity, companies dug an average of 12,500 holes in 2007 in each local authority’s area.

The number of holes equated to one for every 200 yards of local authority road, a report from the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) said.
