Shed of the year 2012 : It’s not just about where to store your lawnmower

We have sheds on readersheds.co.uk that are totally out of this world – you wonder where the sheddie gets the ideas from and what goes on in their heads..

We love all sorts of sheds but these Ten unique ones have caught my eye and the brief reason why, it’s subjective of course – and my vote only counts in the final, so over to you to get these and the other sheds there 🙂

1) the straw bale shed

James Dexter
norwich

Why: Not a traditional shed in the commensense of the word – but what a sustainable way to build  a shed – but watch our for flames

2) The Boat ‘arbour

Chris Anderson
Barmby On The Marsh

Why: What a great reuse of an existing object a old ships lifeboat – the shape is mesmerizing

3) Sue and Graham’s Barbecue Lodge

Sue Tout
Chipstable, Taunton, Somerset

Why: A unique design that is used as a great place for friends and family to meet up – plus it has it’s own BBQ pit

4) The chic shack

jill gossland
allotment

Why: A true multi-use shed – with spaces for the kids and the grownups – If I could build a higgledy piggery shed then I would use this as a plan

5) S.S.San Valerio 1913 Studio

Val Pringle
Garden, Somerset.

Why: It’s made from old wheelhouse of a tanker! (sea theme running through this list) – but has been made into the perfect space

6)Woodhenge

John[ Henry] Plumridge
A garden in Shrewsbury

Why : Unique shape great name – It’s been transformed into pub shed with an amazing collection of beer – where there is a need your sheddie just do it!

7) The Water Shed

Geoff Hill
Smuggler’s Cove

Why: Just look at it absolutely bonkers – Every year I wonder which shed is going to make people say Why the heck did someone do that – Well because!

8) Bostin Betty

Paula
Landlocked in Birmingham

Why: Not only is a great example of a Shed on wheels (Shepherds hut ) – it’s beautiful and so loved by the sheddie

9)Beach Hut’s

Mr and Mrs Thrasher
Devon Garden

Why: Another example of a shed not being what you think it is , but showing how flexible a shed can be with some effort and love.

10)Boatcrash

Jo Candy
Garden, St Annes, Lancs

Why: So much imagination and effort and a totally unique but mad design – stunning.

A top ten list could not end without ones that I was agonising over adding to the final list – see it’s a hard job being the head sheddie 🙂

of course this is just my view so –  Vote for the normal sheds as well as each shed is unique to that sheddie and deserves a Vote.
