Supernova found from garden shed

From the Irish independent

The amateur astronomer who recently discovered a ‘supernova’ exploding star explains the phenomenon from inside his garden shed observatory.

Dave Grennan (39) spotted the 290-million-year-old spectacle through his powerful telescope at his home in Raheny, north Dublin.

The discovery has been described as the biggest in amateur Irish astronomy by the chairman of Astronomy Ireland, David Moore.

Professor Stephen Smartt of Queen’s University Belfast confirmed it as the first supernova to be discovered from Irish soil.

The site says you can embed the video (and gives you the code) but when you try it says you can’t view it 🙁
